JC Heerdt from IV Cellular will be at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library on October 24, 2018 at 1:00-3:00 pm for an Intro to Smartphone Class. Participants will learn the basic set-up of their phone, how to connect to WiFi, use of phone's digital camera, sending and receiving emails, picture messaging, setting up voicemail, and downloading apps from the app store. A question and answer session will take place after the presentation. It does not matter the brand or model of your phone for this free class. Questions, please register (815)663-4741.

Rules of the Road Review Course 9:30-11:30 am

Secretary of State, Jesse White, in cooperation with the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library in Spring Valley is offering a “Rules of the Road Review” course for all citizens in the IllinoisValley area. The course is on November 2, 2018 from 9:30 -11:30am. It is a free program and the purpose of the course is to help participants pass the Illinois driver’s license renewal examination. The course prepares applicants for the general written and road examinations, and also provides information on the vision screening.

University of Illinois Extension Program "Freezer Meals in a Flash" 5:30-6:30 pm

Susan Glassman from the University of Illinois Extension will be at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library on October 18, 2018 at 5:30-6:30 pm to present "Freezer Meals in a Flash!" Wouldn't it be nice to smell dinner as you walk through the door when there is no time or energy left in the day to cook? Join this free lifesaver class and learn how to quickly put together delicious, healthy meals to store away for future use and make your life so much easier. Recipe books and a tasting sample of one of our delicious freezer meal recipes will be available.

Bob Kann presents "Midwestern Women and The American Girls Professional Baseball League: Play Ball!" 6:00 pm

Bob Kann, an author, storyteller, and Professor of Education from Madison, WI will present a program about the Girls Professional Baseball League on September 26, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library in Spring Valley. The program is titled, “The Midwestern Women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League: Play Ball!”.

Extension Program "VEGI-Centric!" 5:30-6:30 pm

The University of Illinois Extension presents VEGI-Centric! which is a program that will explain how to build your meal around vegetables. Make vegetables the main course of your meal because consuming more vegetables provides health benefits in the prevention and treatment of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Also, increasing vegetables cuts saturated fat and cholesterol as well as provides higher dietary fiber and many vitamins and minerals.
